CENTURIA I · QUATRAIN XXII
The Senseless Machine
Ce que viura & n'ayant aucun sens,
Viendra leser u00e0 mort son artifice:
Autun, Chaalon, Langres & les deux Sens,
La gresle & glace fera grand malefice.
That which lives, having no sense,
shall come to abandon its artifice to death:
Autun, Chalon, Langres & the two Sens,
hail & ice will work great mischief.
THE MASTER SAYS…
Not at all. He says that this event is expected in the future. In time, humanity will invent and build special devices that allow weather conditions to be modified according to its needs. The computers involved in this program will gradually become more complex themselves and, due to the absence of ordinary logic in applying decisions, which is inherent only to humans, will unexpectedly model weather that, in the end, will prove catastrophic for the cities indicated in the prophecy. After this they will completely fail, and people will finally understand that changing nature artificially is dangerous, since natural forces will sooner or later still take the upper hand, and for their civilization this can always happen at the most inopportune moment.
