The Changed Realm
Regne Gaulois tu seras bien change,
En lieu estrange est translate l'empire:
En autres moeurs & lois seras range,
Roan & Chartres te feront bien du pire.
Gallic realm, you will be much changed,
in a strange place the empire is carried off:
into other customs and laws you will be ordered,
Rouen and Chartres will do you much harm.
THE MASTER SAYS…
This quatrain relates to the French Revolution. It concerns the King of France and the royal family, who were removed, and the Republic that was established, changing laws and norms. But French imperial power over a certain period spread widely in the new world and further to the Far East. He says this quatrain mainly concerns the changes that occurred in France in 1789. Translators say it refers to the future because France was never an empire. Nostradamus became agitated: France was an empire. France owned Canada. France owned Louisiana and its attached lands. France had French Guiana. France had Indochina. If that is not an empire, then what is an empire? He is very patriotic.
