CENTURIA IV · QUATRAIN XXII
The Faithful General
La grand copie qui sera deschasee,
Dans un moment fera besoing au Roi,
La foi promise de loing sera faulsee
Nud se verra en piteux desarroi.
The great host that will be driven out,
in one moment will be needed by the King,
the faith promised from afar will be broken
and he will see himself naked in piteous disarray.
THE MASTER SAYS…
This quatrain relates to Charles de Gaulle. He was not king of France, but he became president, despite the fact that he was not very popular. He had influence because he expelled the Nazis from his beloved France. Yes, that is so. But he was not in power very long. Therefore he sometimes showed a feeling of bitterness. We know about him.
