CENTURIA IV · QUATRAIN LXXI
The Drowned Vestals
En lieu d'espouse les filles trucidees,
Meurtre a grand faulte ne sera superstile:
Dedans le puys vestales inondees,
L'espouse estraincte par hauste d'Aconite.
In place of the wife the daughters murdered,
Murder to a great fault shall not be superstitious:
Within the well the vestals drowned,
The wife strangled by a high dose of aconite.
THE MASTER SAYS…
He organizes the images he wants to show. He says that this quatrain relates to the worldwide growth of fundamentalism. The various major world religions will become more fanatical and as a result will lose connection with wisdom, which is the drowning of the vestals in wells. If they lose connection with their spiritual source and their wisdom, they will lose connection with what they consider deity, or God. As a result, various organizations or religions die out. He says that they will cease to be religions; they will become crude parodies of religion. Yes. He says that this process began long ago in our time. And he says: “Look at the state of the Christian church. Look at the state of the Muslim religion in the Middle East.” You can look around and see that this is already happening. People holding leadership positions in these various religions have become thirsty for power and have begun to abuse their position.
