The Eastern Abomination
The original text of this fragment was never recorded — only the Master’s reading survives.
THE MASTER SAYS…
He says that this quatrain is one of his. The abomination from the East refers to the Antichrist, and the fall of the papacy refers to the fall of the Catholic Church. He says that the strange conflict between pagans and believers indicates that the splits within the Christian church, as well as between Christians and non-Christians, again prevent them from uniting in the fight against the Antichrist, because he is the common enemy.
