CENTURIA II · QUATRAIN XLI — READING A
The Double Sun
La grand estoille par sept jours brulera,
Nuee fera deux soleils apparoir:
Le gros mastin fera toute nuict hurler,
Quand grand pontife changera de terroir.
The great star will burn for seven days,
the cloud will make two suns appear:
the big mastiff will set all night howling,
when the great pontiff changes his territory.
THE MASTER SAYS…
In this quatrain, Nostradamus predicts the arrival of intelligent beings from other worlds and the realization of the long-awaited contact. The mastiff, as a representative of an ancient breed of English dogs, personifies the evil forces that will oppose such contact, and this will be the reason why Rome will cease to be the center of Catholicism. The double image of the Sun does not mean its actual doubling. Nostradamus explains that during this contact the Sun will shine in the sky both day and night. This quatrain echoes the quatrain we discussed earlier.
