At the fourth pillar sacred to Saturn,
by trembling earth and flood split open,
beneath the Saturnian edifice an urn is found,
of Capion's gold seized and then returned.
THE MASTER SAYS…
Nostradamus says that two different events are connected with this prophecy. Whether they are connected with each other, he does not know. The four columns personify four great powers. One of them, under the patronage of Saturn, will become a victim of a terrible natural disaster that falls upon it in the form of earthquakes and floods of unprecedented force. For this country it will be a global catastrophe that will turn its entire infrastructure inside out. In the quatrain, the urn with gold in it has a double meaning. On the one hand, it emphasizes the fact that the power that will be struck by the terrible element will belong to the category of very rich countries, which in the process of eliminating the consequences of the catastrophe will practically exhaust its gold reserves. As a result, it will turn for help to three other countries, which will come to the rescue and help restore the financial resources of the affected state. Another subtext has in mind the sacrilegious attitude toward the gold reserves of Central America on the part of European countries, when a huge amount of gold obtained dishonestly moved into their gold treasury. Nostradamus asserts that as a result of frequent shipwrecks of that time, a huge amount of gold settled on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. He says that with the development of technology in the future this gold will be extracted from the depths of the sea and honestly returned to the states to which it belonged. Nostradamus meant the Spanish navigator Cortes — the conqueror of Mexico, and the actions of the Spanish conquistadors. He especially wants to emphasize the cruelty of the Spaniards, who, for the sake of profit, stopped at nothing. In this dirty way, a huge amount of gold and silver moved from the countries of Central and South America to Spain and, further, to Europe. Nostradamus says that he does not know the exact names of the countries in question, but he sees that they all belong to the Western alliance.
