CENTURIA II · QUATRAIN LXII
The Comet of Mabus
Mabus puis tost alors mourra, viendra,
De gens & bestes une horrible deffaite:
Puis tout a coup la vengeance on verra,
Cent, main, soif, faim, quand courra la comete.
Mabus then will soon die, there will come
of people and beasts a horrible rout:
then all at once vengeance will be seen,
hundred, hand, thirst, famine, when the comet will run.
THE MASTER SAYS…
Nostradamus asked to spell the word “Mabus” and corrected: it should be pronounced as “May-bas.” He says that the death of an outstanding leader — possibly a religious one — will coincide with the arrival of the main comet of the year. The comet will be clearly visible to the naked eye in the country where this leader is destined to die. This country is located in the Middle East. The death of the leader and the passage of the famous comet will cause a revolt among the population. Its cause will also be crop failure and terrible famine. This will continue for 500 days, or “100 hands.” Nostradamus continues to use symbolism, trying to estimate the duration of time and the number of people who provoked this revolt.
