This quatrain relates to Napoleon’s attacks and conquests. He will state it in the past tense, since for us it is the past. Napoleon traveled in all directions and established an occupation regime in many Middle Eastern countries while searching for cultural heritage and artifacts. The “age of the sun” refers to Louis XIV, the “Sun King.” Michel de Nostredame predicted that Napoleon would not succeed, and his attempt to conquer the world would fail within a hundred years of Louis XIV’s reign. King Louis XIV died in 1715, and Napoleon was sent into exile on St. Helena in 1815. His empire indeed collapsed a hundred years after Louis XIV’s reign. The phrase “barbarian empire will collapse” reflects that the darts and curved swords of Arab soldiers could not compare with the muskets and rifles of Napoleon’s troops. Translators say this quatrain refers to the creation of the State of Israel. No, it does not. They think the twentieth century is the age of the sun. That is an egocentric position. The purpose of the project is to clarify misunderstandings.
